"Our Mission is to provide comfort and emotional support thru The Hope Globe Experience to children who are hospitalized or suffering from chronic or serious illness."
The Hope Globe was created out of a traumatic time in the lives of the Nicholson family beginning in October 2017. Their youngest son experienced his first Gran Mal Seizure and in the months following had several more with multiple trips to the hospital. During this time Jamen Nicholson created a mood light to ease the suffering his son was going through. As he was sitting one evening listening to vinyls with his son enjoying the new light, the thought came to him to start creating night light globes for the suffering children of the Upstate and their families.
Jamen took his idea to Oconee Memorial Hospital. As they do not house children long term, they referred him to Greenville Children's Hospital in Greenville, SC. After talking with the Child Life Administrator, The Hope Globe was able to bring 4 globes to GHS in January of 2018. Over the next 9 months, over 60 children at GHS have received a globe. In August 2018, The Hope Globe was able to add Shriner's Children Hospital of Greenville as another recipient of Globes. They have received over 30 globes.
In December 2018 over 90 globes were taken to PRISMA (GHS) for our final distribution.
Over 250 globes have been given as an emotional support to children in the Upstate in 2018.
